For those who want to let family and friends know on the likes of social media that they are racing, you can create your own bib :)

http://www.daveblohm.com/bibs/

On race briefing this evening IMSA say they have tested the water on, North beach, South beach and where we are swimming and water quality is good.... so we are going to be swimming!!

That's excellent news

I missed the briefing, anything else that was worth the watch, or should I just watch it?

The bib design is awesome, or is there a catch, like paying extra? How does it works after you designed it?

Race briefing is on the Ironman SA FB page, if you have not done the race before, worth watching.  If you have done the race then is the same as the last 2 years.

As for the bib, nope no catch, the guy designed the bib generator a few years ago and many use it for a bit of fun and to let friends and family know.  Once you have designed your bib, you can either directly share it on the links provided on the page or right click over the bib image and save the pic

Thanks, had a quick listen to it now. Did not pay much attention last year during the race briefing. Must say the race briefing was very informative and well worth the listen.

I must train this weekend to mount with my cycling shoes clipped into my pedals. Remember last year how long uncomfortable jog it was with with me running on my heels of my cycling shoes to not break my cleats.

Quick question, will I be allowed to give my cycling glasses to my wife while on the run next to the road, I guess not?

unless you are racing in the top 10 it should be fine.  If you want to be technically compliant with the rules, what you could do is place them on the floor and move on, should your wife happen to be in vicinity and she picks them up, then you are fine.

It is more about receiving aid from non competitors like additional nutrition and equipment that may have malfunctioned that is not allowed as far as I see it.  But then I so far from the sharp end of events that ofiicials are not too concerned about me!

Hey guys! Antonio from Italy here, BIB# 80

I'll be in Durban on tuesday 28...wishing it will be a triathlon and not a duathlon, anybody can suggest a swimming pool to do some training not far from the venue?

I hope you enjoy your stay in Durban. Good luck for the event.

When practicing mounting your bike with shoes already clipped in, don't forget the Elastic band trick to keep your shoes right side up on the pedals.

So, my training since 1st March has gone like this;

Swimming - 5.4km

Cycling - 1278 km

Running - 153km

Other - 18 hours (Pilates and Kettlebells)

I'm happy with what I've done.

Hoping for a 5.55hr finish

Too lazy to work out all my distances and most of my cycling sessions was on a indoor trainer.

Hoping for on race day :

  • 35min swim
  • 2:55 bike
  • 2:00 run
  • 15min transition

Total time 5:45, but I still in the dark on how well my calf has recovered after my injury 2 months back. Going to try and keep my pace at 6 min/km on the run, and speed up at 13-15 km if all is well.

Hoping for a similar time! Will need it all to come together though. Adopt don't shop!
