Wil6 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 For those who want to let family and friends know on the likes of social media that they are racing, you can create your own bib http://www.daveblohm.com/bibs/ On race briefing this evening IMSA say they have tested the water on, North beach, South beach and where we are swimming and water quality is good.... so we are going to be swimming!!That's excellent news I missed the briefing, anything else that was worth the watch, or should I just watch it? The bib design is awesome, or is there a catch, like paying extra? How does it works after you designed it?

How does it works after you designed it?Race briefing is on the Ironman SA FB page, if you have not done the race before, worth watching. If you have done the race then is the same as the last 2 years. As for the bib, nope no catch, the guy designed the bib generator a few years ago and many use it for a bit of fun and to let friends and family know. Once you have designed your bib, you can either directly share it on the links provided on the page or right click over the bib image and save the pic

Did not pay much attention last year during the race briefing. Must say the race briefing was very informative and well worth the listen. I must train this weekend to mount with my cycling shoes clipped into my pedals. Remember last year how long uncomfortable jog it was with with me running on my heels of my cycling shoes to not break my cleats. Quick question, will I be allowed to give my cycling glasses to my wife while on the run next to the road, I guess not?
lurkerza Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 unless you are racing in the top 10 it should be fine. If you want to be technically compliant with the rules, what you could do is place them on the floor and move on, should your wife happen to be in vicinity and she picks them up, then you are fine. It is more about receiving aid from non competitors like additional nutrition and equipment that may have malfunctioned that is not allowed as far as I see it. But then I so far from the sharp end of events that ofiicials are not too concerned about me!
Jehosefat Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 For anyone who didn't watch the trace briefing last night, looks like the swim is on (barring any unforeseen issues)

Hoping for on race day : 35min swim2:55 bike2:00 run15min transitionTotal time 5:45, but I still in the dark on how well my calf has recovered after my injury 2 months back. Going to try and keep my pace at 6 min/km on the run, and speed up at 13-15 km if all is well.
