The more you ride the harder the bum gets, like the street you passed, HARDEKOOL. Some call it TITS, time in the saddle. En die regte broek help ook. Enjoy dit net en trap hom asof jy hom gesteel het.

A bad day cycling is better than a good day working.

Saddles don't always fit every person properly and sometimes you need to try a few before finding one that suits you but before trying new saddles you need to just spend time in the saddle you have and get some decent padded shorts. After a few months if not coming right, only then should you consider looking for a new saddle.

I have been researching upgrades. It currently has acera shifters and alivio front deraliuer. Deoro shifters and front deraliuer is only 1600. Will it be a good upgrade?

You are only allowed to consider upgrades if you have more than 1000 HUB posts

ha ha ....yes Deore is a fairly good upgrade but no need to change until the other stuff wears out.

Shimano's 'performance' range of components has 4 levels Deore, SLX, XT and XTR. They have a lot more alloy parts than Acera and Alivio which uses mostly steel. Each higher level is lighter in weight and feel but progressively more pricey. They can mostly be used interchangeably. Deore is robust and performs well.

there is a thread on here somewhere where eldrom documented his construction of his backyard track...but his was like 800m or something. you could create a nice little 1 or 2 km track in that space. Would be mega rewarding too

Congrats on the bike Theunissa. Man you making me feel nostalgic with all this first bike stoke.

Please don't take this the wrong way but I'd like to throw some advice out there. Watch your kids around that bike. I also have a daughter (4) and a son (2). We all ride together everyday.

I live on a small holding surrounded by many farms so we actually have much in common.

My son likes staring at my bikes and all the moving parts. When the bike is standing. Curiosity often gets the better of him and he wants to touch it. Its very dangerous to little fingers. Drive train, brake discs etc. Had to stop him from trying to touch the bike many times. Just keep an eye on them. Make sure they can't get to the bike when you're not around.

Helmets mate helmets... PLEASE....

And book a skills course asap - before you meet me by accident..

Enjoy it - the first 1000km are the hardest - after that you just get faster and it's still hard ;)

Re-check the pics mate. Surely pushing and being stationary is allowed without a lid?

You can never instill a good habit too early or too young - even I - who for many reasons DOES know better - occasionally slips up - especially with kids - and a gentle reminder is never a bad thing :)

The posed photos didn't really concern me too much - the last one really instigated the request - perhaps I am over sensitive this month after dealing with 2 kids not belted in during a partial head on.

thanks for the advice. I haven't thought about that. ER is quite a drive from here. I make a cover to close it. You are right they just want to go ride. Will have to get a carrier and take them with me. Do you know any good reasonable price ones? Mine also same age as yours trying to get them to ride their own. Bit daddy's new bike is more exiting
