mecheng89 Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Hi all, I am very keen to partake in this event in December. Having read up on the rules of Audax a bit, I get the feeling that it's a race within a race. The official rules state that this is not a race, and that the "maximum" allowed average speed is 30km/h. Why would you want to go faster? How do they penalise you if you arrive at an average of 32km/h? Any tips for my first Audax? Thanks all hyper milers!
BDF Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 It is NOT a race, it is a ride. This particular one is a memorial ride for Ian Kernick who "ran" Cresta Wheelers for many years and tragically passed away some years back.

Thanks all hyper milers! Two checkpoints where you sign in is how it is controlled. No results, just a grin on your face as reward. Take a great attitude, food, and money for more food. Leave the racer mentality at home.
_David_ Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Looking forward to this, when do we get the route map?
Loose cog Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Hi, where is the link to the ride? Thanks

Prepare to stop and refill water bottles. Put on sunscreen. Take a spare tube and a sense of humour.
coppi Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Come on hubbers, support Cresta Wheelers in this great ride.........
Dee1 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Thank you to the two gentleman from Cresta Wheelers who stopped to help me change a double puncture after hitting a hole. Great day out.
'Kaze Pete Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Enjoyed the ride as usual but the heat was a bit hectic!
jkru91 Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 great ride - kudos to Cresta. Question - was there a direction missing at the end (n14 for 22K....seems they neglected to mention to stay straight at the big junction and head towards Roodeport)
