Pure Savage Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I also think the Slate is a great option (I am often surprised how well it can keep up with road bikes) - only problem is choice of tyres or replacement tyres. Around 1.9 (maybe 2.0) in 650b. My original tyres are fine so far but some reports of sidewall cuts. I think the current best option is Schwalbe G-One but it will make for an expensive training tyre. What gear would the average rider be packing? That was the only negative thing in our review and maybe a bigger rear cluster. No shops around Cape Town could replace the 27,5 types with ones which would fit and be useful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

TALUS Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Nearly forgot. A standard 105 32T cluster (R500 from Chris Willemse) fits straight out of the box on the Slate. Works like a charm for a double lap at Suikerbosrand. Most of these machines riding here will never need it but it is perfect for me.
Rocket-Boy Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I think we were all wrong with our predictions, it looks like Ambulance 2 has got this race wrapped up...
nathrix Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 People, you should see these district roads, it's NOT flat, you're either going up or down and then there is the corrugation and plenty thick loose sand if you do not concentrate on the line you're taking! 40 degrees heat and headwinds that make it almost impossible to fly the drone. This Munga is rof
cicli Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 thanks for the update nathrix, sounds hectic out there
nathrix Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 The guys in front, uhm and girl, they look tired and Brandon's got that big back pack on and it looked like he was very uncomfortable with it on, turning his head from one side to the other to soothen/ stretch the neck muscles I presume.

nathrix Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 I think i got some nice aerial shots of the start and some parts of the route while waiting for riders. I'm in Britstown as I figured they'll get to Vanderkloof late at night and it will be dark, so being in Britstown already will give me time to edit, upload the bits I managed to shoot, charge batteries, format sd cards, sleep and get up early and fresh to video them riding into Britstown in the morning.
