There's a very negative article about the Spruit in the Sandton Chronicle. Apparently all the North Shore type stuff was put there by motorbike riders, and they want it remove all of it Ermm

If there are motox-ers using the Spruit, then shame on them, but surely reporters are supposed to do just a little research before writing an article?

Does any1 have the contact details (or know sum1 who may) for the dude on the Morewood or his mate on the Yeti who built the obstacles...? I need to chat to him about possible a solution to the problem he has with the municipality...

Can someone please post the article. Only get the Rosebank Gazette.

Can't say I have seen MXers on the Spruit. Is this everywhere or only in the Bryanston area?

Heard about the complaints yesterday. Apparently some of the stuff is dangerous. Well so is traffic, hijackers, smoking and unprotected sex.

Pathetic. Maybe we ban dogs and horses 'cos their sh*t clogs my tyres. Haven't found a tread that sheds crap effectively.

This seriously pisses me off!Angry

I thought Kayn and some of the Club100 guys were involved, never seen any motox guys there.

Dangerous, well yes, these are ramps and drop offs, for those who know what they are doing.

The journalist did not research the article at all. The photo is of a NS section, and must think there is no way a bicycle can ride those stuff, so it must be quads. I have never see ANY quads in the spruit.

"NOT WANTED HERE"   -

check out today's Sandton Chronicle pg 6 for a whole hullabaloo regarding

"illegal structures" that have been built along the spruit, ostensibly for

"quad bikers" who have turned the spruit into "a motocross course".

I live close by the spruit and have NEVER seen either quads or motorbikes

using the facilities, which, from the picture, look very much like the

things mtb'ers have been building.  Do the residents perhaps not know the

difference between mtb, quads and motocross??   Or is it another case of

us all being tarred with the same brush?

The article says "these people have gone to an enormous effort to make the

park suitable for riding,  This is a waste of time because their actions

are illegal.  The park does not belong to them".

further: "we have requested the River Rangers to demolish these structures

with immediate effect.  We are working with Environmental Health and

Building Control to issue fines and summons to the offenders".

It's not dangerous if you wear the right gear..

I have seen 2 mx bikes on the spruit once, in the section between the NS by the scout hall and Bryanston Drive, but it looked like they were passing thru. This was during the week of the public holidays.

Aha' date=' now what is a teetet toter?[/quote']

sorry, missing a "t". a teeter-totter is a see-saw for bikes.

Thanks, now I'm up to speed.  A teeter-totter is not someone who will refuse a beer after a ride.
