Cassette size versus chain length

At the moment I am using a 10speed 13/29 cassette. Problem is for fast road riding I lack topend, spinning out from 50km/h. If I change the cassette to an 11/25, will the current chain length be ok?

Would prefer not to remove a link, so that I could swap cassettes as needed

Then why ask?

You're either going to adjust the chain lenght or not.

I have the opposite problem

currently have a 11-25 on a 53/39 and need more hill friendly gearing. Was wanting to go for a 11-29 cassette rather but my issue is that my chain will be too short and will need a new one.

ideally i would want to keep the 11-25 on another set of wheels and be able to swap but would be a problem to use the same chain length for both

Because I want to know if it will work ????????. Not so easy and economical to remove and add a link every time I change the cassette

Before removing a link check the chain on the small - small gears.  If there is enough tension on the RD ie if the chain is not slack it should be ok as is.

Thanks David. Still need to purchase a new cassette. I will check it then

I have a similar setup where my everyday wheels have an 11-25 cassette, and when I go to hilly areas around Nelspruit, I use an 11-28 cassette with no problems.

An 11-29 should still work, but like David says, check your tensions in your RD when in your biggest gear at the back. If the derailleur is sitting at a very funny angle towards the front of your bike, you risk damaging it.
