85% of the time alone. Rest of the time with family or friends. I prefer riding alone, most of the times I go with groups they take too much time doing unnecessary things like stopping, talking, taking pictures etc.

Can't stand the Half Wheel Harry types in group rides

You know that oke who always pushes the pace beyond the collective goal of the group

And, no, not talking about the gallop to the final traffic light or the last hilltop of the day

I have a wonderful club, so whether it's a tough club ride or a social coffee ride (wet, like this morning), I prefer in a group.

I also do lost of training indoors solo.

Depends on the purpose of the ride. For safety reasons I hardly ever ride alone nowadays... where in the past I prefered riding alone.

I am lucky enough now to ride with riders stronger than me. I like it that way.

I do both - don't mind.

I have noticed that when with another cyclist motorist seem to hoot more often as they seem to believe one need to ride directly be hind the next person or they feel it's 2 abreast even if you 2 meter behind and and to the right. Anyone else noticed this?

Or Mr. "Ill be slow, Ive not ridden all week"  and then he goes and surges when he is at the front and turns every hill into a winky measuring contest.  While "little-winky" may not have ridden for a few days, he is nice and fresh.....other okes are on day four of a big training block on their programme.  Mr "little-winky" goes home feeling like a pro

Sorry to derail the topic a bit... :offtopic:

Chuckled so much I almost fell off my bike (again) on a ride yesterday. Got passed and merrily greeted by a foursome of young friendly whippets whilst I was re-inflating a slow puncture yesterday just outside Bakoven heading to Hout Bay. Not long after we got going again, got overtaken by two "Mr Little Winkie's" with comments of "make space", both looking the meanest of weekend warriors. The duo made an effort to appear to mean business, keeping a little in front of us.

We caught up with the foursome around two or so more bends on the base of a little climb when the two again tried to verbally move these lads out of their way. The four looked back once, then at each other and opened throttle. Team Little Winkie tried their level best to keep pace but two more bends later they both bonked and were gulping air trying to find an excuse for stopping when we passed them again. I so wish I had a GoPro - priceless!
