MTB Lubricating rear derailleur

Don't lubricate your derailleur. Just clean the gunk off the jockey wheels after every ride.

Yes I do. Regrease the bearings (not ceramic) after soaking in paraffin, dry properly. Otherwise a wipe with a greased rag, internals only.

Don't oil the rerailure mechanisms. Of the jockey wheels are dirty, you can remove and clean them and grease the bearings.

Do you mean the moving parts of the derailleur or the jockey wheels?

 

Jockey wheels are meant to be serviced

I also take some light oil in a syringe with a old long needle on it (point filed down) and add a bit of oil to all the moving points on the derailer, after going for a ride I then give it a good wipe down and to date my XT derailer on a 6 year old bike that has done well over 20,000km is still good....

True this.  Parts last forever if looked after.
