To respray or not to respray? Bike rental?

Hi all!

I've got a 2016 Specialized Camber Comp Carbon. I've changed out the grips for ESI chunky ones, as well as out a 32T chainring on. Rest of the bike is stock. It's the black/white glossy version.

I'm contemplating respray (either the whole matte black / murdered out look), or I'm also partial to the Yeti turquoise... if I do respray it's 3 weeks with no bike. Will places rent a decent loaner for as long as that?

Or do I just leave it as is and perhaps upgrade some components?

Got an itch... figurative ????

Not sure on your renting options mattewproctor.

Final restraint condition - take as much time as possible. Perhaps consider wrapping it once finished as it appears that although the final finish looks magic, it is not as durable as the original OEM finish

BTW, I've always enjoyed refurbing older bikes (yours is not old/abused) nut the durability of the final product has not been up to scratch (unless you talk to the master in the Cape I am told). All the best

Not too sure but what if the frame cracks without an incident/accident? Are you covered by insurance? Don't think so and that's when the manufacturer's warrantee comes in! Again not sure!

I'll find out and revert back ????????

Is this an issue bike is fully insured?

Can't see why it would be. In my mind insurance has always been for the situation when my warranty does not come into play. I would give the insurer a call just to confirm though...

As for renting - gona be very expensive, especially if it is a decent bike. Just gym for 3 weeks (maybe save the respray for winter). I reckon thay Yeti turqoise will be worth the sacrifice!

If the time away is concerning you because of lost enjoyment , don't spray the bike.

If the time away is concerning you because of fitness , just go to the gym and do some core and jump on the watt bike once or twice.

I would not respray the bike because of the warranty , the off chance of the shop messing up badly , the end result not being what you intended ect ect.

Either way you go enjoy your bike sir.

Most definitely not mat black I had a mat black anthem adv it gets marks so easy and there's nothing you can do about it. As where gloss can always be polished. I would keep the frame standard and spend the money on parts to make it sweet plus never gonna get the same quality with a respray. But that is just my opinion.
