Lower back pain

Hi, I recently started using clipless pedals and my lower back, on the tailbone hurts for the first half hour of the ride, it somewhat subsides for the rest of the ride. I have tried my best to do a correct bike fit with some videos but not sure what else to do. Any suggestions? Please help. Thanks

At 2 am - sleep haha.

Seriously though, get a bike fit done by a professional. I know it seems like a waste of R500, but it really is worth it. I also have quite persistant back problems (herniated discs), and the correct fit made a massive difference for me. Especially the position of the cleats on my shoe and the orientation of the seat.

Like Grease Monkey said, get a bike fit. Did the back pain start only after fitting cleats? Try tip the front of your saddle up fractionally from it's current position, you could be pulling more on your pedals which could be causing you to slide forward and sit on the front of saddle.

Try the fit calculator on Competitive Cyclist or the Bikerite app by Science to Sport in the meantime. Post a pic of your bike setup here.

So I had a fit today at Summit Cycles.feels like a totally different bike. If the rains could stop I can test the setup.

Good move Batman! My brother had a setup done by Anton 2 weeks before Epic a few years ago and had no issues.

Been in the unfortunate position of having had three back ops to alleviate pain resultant from herniated discs pinching the sciatic nerve, basically rendering one useless with leg pain. After the 3rd op I decided to try the cycling thing, knowing I had a crappy back I got myself measured to ensure I bought the right size, and once bought, had it all set up to suite......have not had any back pain, R600 well spent
