Morning guys I have been going to countless bike shops they all tell me a bike frame shouldn't touch your crotch when standing over the bike but they not explaining why mine touches but I'm comfortable when riding even more comfortable than my previous which was not touching

Touching of crouches can be a pleasurable experience. ..depends who does the touching. ..????????????on a more serious note it might be a bit painful when dismounting incorrectly. ....????????????and you might be more comfortable because you have a long torso or arms......☺☺☺

Montainbiking calls for you to put a leg out every now and then. ..if your feet are just touching the ground on even ground you won't be able to when the ground has variable height.

The crotch measurement was used extensively on older, traditional geometry bikes.

Most LBS's would suggest 2 fingers between top tube and crotch, but that may also only have been for there pleasure. LOL

Compact geometry has changed the approach completely.

Well maybe its just the way the frame is made

(talking just about hardails here)

Meridas generally tend to have high top tube while Pivot have A tube tube that slopes down quite a lot.

Same with GT most of their to tubes are quite high up while Focus have top tubes that slope down a lot as well.

I REALLY don't think the top tube touching crotch should be any reason to go buy another frame.

If your bike rides nice and you like it , screw what other people think just ride and enjoy

A lot of bikes have either a steeply sloping top tube or a dip in the top tube to provide more standover clearance. Its helpful when you have have to stop and stand for an obstacle.

If your bike's top tube doesn't give good clearance it will be mildly inconvenient when you stop but otherwise has no negative effect while riding.
