dev null Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Watching the visuals of them riding the loop in Madrid I recollected all the memories of me being there on business in 2001, having coffee in a coffee shop on the Gran Via, visiting the gardens, palace etc, and riding an open top bus through the city. Them Spanish girls sure has a way to put lead in your pencil.
Mudsimus Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Contador doing a solo lap of honour as they enter Madrid.... will be missed !!Yeah, just like we miss Lance.
Jewbacca Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Yeah, just like we miss Lance.sjoe hey... I am going to miss Berto. He signifies the end of an era. Where Grand tour winners won stages and duked it out in the mountains with their contenders 1 on 1. When long range attacks put people in yellow/pink/red because teams weren't organised enough to work out what each watt meant in relation to every millisecond on the GC standings. To a degree I DO miss Lance but it is more that I miss the racing he was involved in. I know Froomie id a brilliant cyclist and Sky is an amazing team, but they have taken away the romantic side of GT racing and made a wee on the fireworks.

Indurain was not exactly romantic - win the TTs and hang on. Jan U as well. Even LA's bunch won their first few tours by sitting on the front. There were always individuals like Pantani, who were the loony 'romantics' but I really don't think Sky is as different as we all think. They are just much better at it.
