Odinson Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 At 175 I'd be wary of the large frame, if only due to the seat tube length limiting your choice of dropper due to your height - something this bike neeeeeds. You'll probably only be able to fit a 125mm dropper unless you have freakishly long legs for your height. If you're happy with that, well then that's okay. From an ETT perspective the large is relatively short at 614 vs it's 473mm reach, and the medium is just under 600mm and with a reach of 460mm but - critically - with a 3cm shorter seat tube. On the face of it, I'd recommend a medium Swoop. It's still got a reach longer than that of my Large Reign. Yeah, was thinking about that too. Opting for the medium will then push me over to either the 2016 Swoop (the 2X11 option with a Monarch instead of the Vivid Air) or the 2017 version with the Yari/Monarch. Alternatively, I have the option of the 2017 Swoop 170 8.0, which has the Lyrik/Vivid combo, but it'll be a €400 minimum jump in price, which ain't exactly chump change.

I didn't think about that at all when I bought my 150mm dropper only to find it didn't fit in my Dual Sus with the seat post kink. Luckily I just moved it over to my hardtail and it just fit's right other wise that would have been an expensive lesson.
V12man Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Well if a Spez was available as a direct sales model at comparable prices that would put one in the running - but they not and probably never will be. A longer bike makes a massive difference. My XL has 477 reach and it was a revelation moving from a short slack seat post bike to a 75deg seat tube and long reach/wheelbase frame.Yes - true - but I found a brand new Enduro locally for about 50% of retail.... with warrantees intact - thanks to a hubber from the platteland.... Guess Enduro is not so big in the flat lands... but it is worth looking around.
V12man Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 The Patrol is way out of budget, but seems to be a good bike.Mr van aarde was selling his.... in XL.... if I remember right.... fabulous looking bike - but they don't make in my size... grr....

V12man Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 They don't make an XXS?Nope... nor a XS or a S.... medium only.... Luckily I ride a spez medium.....
Odinson Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 But what would happen if I buy the Swoop and rock up to a race and okes are like "460mm reach and 170mm travel? You compensating for something?"

MarcBurger Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 You obviously won't pass AS many okes on the climbs, but you'll be an absolute legend to ones you do. Now go my son! go and show an S-works that carbon is silly.

Odinson Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 Hmm. The Strive is leading the poll. To be honest, it was just there to round out the numbers.

Odinson Posted January 26, 2017 Author Posted January 26, 2017 Cat among the pigeons here. What about some mid-travel naainers? They don't really qualify as long and slack, but y'know. 2017 Ghost SL AMR X 6 AL (150mm/140mm) 2017 YT Jeffsy AL ONE
