It seems the USN team and the EAI racing teams have pulled the plug. I saw a post on social media of Johann saying he is racing in his shop's kit this year. He didnt mention scaling down or with who through.

I know nothing of Darren's plans though

EAI pulled the plug about 2 years ago already...Johann is focusing on his store and home life a bit this year.

USN was never going to be a long term deal, IIRC it was only mean to get DL and WW thru Epic last year and then they would pull the plug, but they raced in their kit for the remainder of the season, as far as I know they didn't get a salary out of the deal tho, just race entries and logistics covered...

ok so JR is not riding anymore but what team is DL riding for?

Im just curious how they were both so prolific on the pro scene for a few years and now they no where to be seen.

Don't forget DL is pushing mid/late 30's? (correct me if I'm wrong), and JR is also in his early 30's?

So age does come into play here, also sponsorships are getting smaller and a lot more difficult to secure so less people are fortunate enough to get and retain sponsorships.

Thanks to some lovely ex-pros (not mentioning names) who doped, a lot less companies are less likely/willing to put the right amount of money into athlete sponsorships and more into events.

There are very few people who would accept getting paid R5-10k a month to ride their bikes as a job so that is also a limiting factor for a lot of local pro's....

Johan Rabie is teaming up with Gordon Gilbert as far as I know. Darryn Lill is of to Dubai to pursue a career there. This is hearsay an not necessarily 100% accurate at the time of typing here.

he did also recently get married, but i know we cannot discuss he's personal life

I think that has more to do with the lady in the previous discussions rather than the actual principle. HubStandards you know ;)
