Can any one tell me where in SA to get a spacer kit to adapt a 142 rear hub to a boost 148 hub width?

They are available on EBay and in the USA. New bike, old wheel set.

Alternative is a new hub and build- a lot more expensive for the new bike.

Try Evobikes or Rapide. IF you're a big oke or you ride hard I wouldn't recommend though, I've seen a Hope hub destroyed from the extra unsupported load on the axle.

This.

This gives you a nice idea of what's actually happening - I didn't realise that a 142TA and 135QR were actually the same measurement end-to-end.

So by putting in adapters, your wheel will essentially be supported on the end of a longer lever than it was originally intended (which is different to what happens when you convert a 135QR to 142TA).
