Sure this gets asked a lot, just want some opinions of people riding Santa cruz bikes! Im looking at getting a Bronson, just wondering which size bike would be best? Had a tallboy a while back but had to sell it,(had to finance my first born instead). The tallboy was a Large, never felt like i had reace problems but struggled to lift the front end to get over bigger obstacles. Im 1,77m, 1,78 on a good day,so im right in that in between height! What do you guys think?M or L?

Santa Cruz are having a demo day in Cape Town this weekend and one up in Joburg the following weekend. The Bronson will be available to try your best bet would be to go try both out and see what feels better. From what I have read the Bronsons size a bit small so you're probably better off on a large but I'd be hesitant to spend that much on a bike without being completely sure. New Bronson or old Bronson?

Old Bronson sizes a bit small so most definitely a large. Newer one is slightly longer so you may *get away* with a medium, but I'd suggest a large unless your legs are a bit on the wee side, which may affect the size of the dropper that you can get due to seatpost length.

EDIT: Ignore that. LARGE!!!

sho, Large seems kind of large for some1 thats only 1.77, hes not even 6feet...

Your point?

I'm 1.8. Not even 6 feet (that's 1.83) and I fit perfectly on a large Giant Reign. Santa sizing is slightly smaller than the giant, and Mr Rush Sports (Andre van Aarde) the importers of Santa says Large is the right size.

The only time a medium would be advisable is if he wants a 150mm dropper and the seat tube is too long on the large for it to fit properly at full extension. Even then a 125mm dropper would work.

I'm 174cm and ride a Large (20") bike which has a reach of 473mm, whereas the Bronson has a reach of 445mm. I'm quite confident that OP would be more comfortable on a large Bronson.

The Bronson is a gravity-oriented bike and for those kinds of bikes, you want a longer reach and wheelbase.

I was also right between sizes, got a medium (not a Santa), hated it. Sold that and got a Large frame, 50mm stem - best decision ever! Same thing with my wife, between S and M, got a Medium, 35mm stem - loves it!

Besides, on a medium you are going to be running a 70mm (probably?) stem since you are on the upper end of the spectrum - and let's be honest, long stems suck unless you are a very serious XC junkie!

Putting a 70mm stem on a modern bronson would be like not wanting a lap dance from Katy Perry.

Hahaha and that is why he should get a Large! No one says no to a lap dance from Katy Perry!

Just one last comment.

Even if you have a long bike, with the saddle out of the way and the right technique, you can lift the front end of any bike.

The instructor in this video gives some good advice on how to lift the front end of your bike.
