Swift or Giant

As already mentioned by a lot of people, if the Ultravox with the same kit as the Giant was the same price, I would definitely take the Ultravox.

There is a massive difference between the Ultravox and Attack, so if the Ultravox doesn't fall in your budget, then definitely go with the Giant over the Attack.

I have ridden the Ultravox and Giant (similar spec) and my money is on the Ultravox - I love this frame.

As with all things in life, your budget ultimately dictates the outcome. Also have a look second hand - there have been a few Ultravox TI frames for sale with full Sram Red and Zipp carbon wheels for around the R40k mark.

I am mostly a mountainbiker but I also do some road racing and here is my experience

I had a GHOST AMR race. The bike shop sold me completely the wrong size, and refused to refund me as it was on a clearance sale. I rode the bike for 2 years, after having made several changes in terms of stem length etc to try and make it more comfortable. The bike was equiped with full 2x10 ultegra and fairly entry level shimano wheels.

I sold the bike about 14 months ago, and bough myself a Swift Carbon Attack with the 2x11 Shimano 105. From my experience I cannot really tell the difference in performance between the 105 and Ultegra.

The swift is a slightly more relaxed geometry when compared to the Ghost, but I enjoy it like that. That doesn't make it slow in any sense of the word. I paid R20k for it, and it came with Mavic Aksiums and allu Ritchey parts which I am slowly upgrading to get the bike lighter.

I love my Swift. It is such an awesome ride!!! I cannot wait to upgrade the wheelset as that will make it a complete speed freak. Just to give you an idea, I did a 2h31 at 947 last year which was my only road race of the year.

So it might be slightly heavier in standard spec than some of the other bikes mentioned here. That doesnt make it slow though...

I have a roubaix and a tarmac. the tarmac is one frame size to big, the bike shop said, you have to ride a 54. not knowing anything back then that the TT was 550, hence I should've gone for the 52.

The roubaix feels more relaxed and is, but it's also not slower than the tarmac. It has a great road feel and makes for a fantastic ride experience.

I threw bones from a dead dogs tail along with a button from my great grand farther's suit and two dice that landed on 3 and 4.

Go for the Giant!

Say what now?

Swift Ultravox RS1 has my vote. I have one, rides great.

Think Swift may have a better resale value...

If you want a bike with a bit of difference, Swift is a good choice!

I ride a TCR Advanced, so am a bit biased

Swift is making good bikes and their service, support & reputation has been really good from what I hear.

Swift Ultravox RS-1 with Ultegra and Aksiums for R40k

5 year warranty on the frame

I bought the TCR when I was in Australia in Nov/Dec. After claiming GST back It cost me R30k!

I ride an Ultravox TI. I love my bike.

It's sexy and stands out in the crowd even though it's matt black. I enjoyed being able to spec it according to my own requirements rather than being forced to take it off the shelf. I always get comments on how good it looks and it's way more bike than I'll ever be able to do justice to...

Their service was great and it probably cost about 20k less than the equivalent Bianchi that I was looking at. If you're down in CT for the CTCT, they have a lekker little showroom on Orange in the CBD.
