There is talk of a ride from PMB to Durban this weekend...anyone have more details?

date and start time...is it open to everyone?

I’m not aware of that, but East Coast Cycling Club and Kings Park Cycling Club will be riding on 8 October from Oscars in Hillcrest to PMB via Polly Shortts and back to Hillcrest via Fox Hill - about 120km. Starting at 5am.

Hi guys... just wanted to put this out there as I made a very delayed decision to ride the race this year...

Unfortunately I didn't register before the online entries closed so I will need to start with the last batch if I do a late entry. However, I was told that I could substitute with someone already registered and seeded, so if there's anyone that decides not to race, please get in touch with me. I'll be happy to cover whatever costs there are for a substitution and pay back your entry fee.

Much appreciated.

Same here looking for substitute.Just decided now to do this race.

We should be ready for the shova.... with all these pre race rides [emoji3]

ideally we need to do more races to get use to the intensity. We rarely push ourselves to the limits when doing a "ride" , so when you say ready you might be ready to ride a 106km but racing it flat out is a different story all together.

Start times on Racetec.

CL start for me at 7h30, first time doing the race so I am just going to do it for the experience, not gonna chase a time, should be fun

so long as i finish and do it under 4 hrs...i will be happy. :)

one day when i grow younger and weigh under 80 kg...i will try race to the end...racing bicycles is for people in the 60 and 70 kg weight range...we just pay the money to help make the prices bigger and better for the skinny fellas...and for the road closure.

I did it in around 4 hours and 20 minutes some change in 2012, I was weighing just over 80kg's, no training, and I had come home from a nightclub at around 03:45am on race day morning. It can be done.

AL for me, but might drop back a group. Not going to be ready for that sufferfest.

Was seeded AL for Emperors, which is supposed to be "flat". Well I got dropped like a hot potato on one of the non-climbs. Sufferfest indeed, everybody trying to attack the group on the slightest sign of gradient makes it a very hard ride.

BL and CL is much more enjoyable IMHO.

Gonna try hang with AL...

If I was ok at Tour of Durban then I should be ok at Shova. I usually catch the okes on the climbs but loos ground on the flats if I don't make the group split.

holding thumbs I don't get spat out the back...
