At least the seller made the effort to sms you to tell you it had been sold. 

 

You can't expect the seller to run around finding out postage costs and also then take the cost of the postage on himself as an additional risk especially when the majority of the buyers are willing to either pick up, or arrange for the courier to pick the item up at their own cost.

If you really want something and aren't sure whether your dibs call will cut it then phoning the seller is often really helpful. They get a better sense of who you are, how much you actually want the item(s), and whether you're trustworthy.

 

In my limited experience, most hubbers go out of their way to help buyers out. It's a great feeling selling something to someone who is excited to put it to good use. And as everyone says, the rating system is there to record these sorts of things.
