Wattbike in cycle entertainment.

bwa ha ha!! im building my fitness base :P thus need to do as much as i can with each "type" of leg, that i have something to work off of on weekends. but i only do this every second day, 1hr wattbike, 30min run, 1.5-2km swim then home. 

 

those gym bunnies(the hot ones) make up for the effort hahaha. the bachelor life.. gotto love it

Meyersdal. But I'm sure they look at me in disgust with that moat of sweat around me...

tx alot for this!! havnt tinkered much with the apps etc.. rather hate having to do a 10min setup prep to get going [emoji14] but def worth looking into.

It takes around 30 secs to pair your hr strap to the watt bike and another 30 secs to pair your phone, 1 min admin is worth an hour of distraction to me. Give it a try...

I feel the same about building blocks, My best average wattage during Building blocks were 265 and I nearly died.

The nice thing about the WB is my weight does not count against me so much.

I have a 288W avg. about 4 weeks ago. But outside the extra kg's start hurting.

You can use an elastic band to hold your phone / tablet in place.

You can also connect Zwift and do those sessions.

 

BTW 1hr on a WattBike is the norm - 4+hrs on a WattBike is a long session (and insane but some do it).

The nice thing about the WB is my weight does not count against me so much.

I have a 288W avg. about 4 weeks ago. But outside the extra kg's start hurting.

That is some serious power. What do you weigh if I may be so bold?

Not a phone surely? I don't like having my phone connected to the bike, it drains my battery so quickly. I emailed Wattbike on their android address (no reply after 2 weeks) to ask why they don't release a power/cad/time breakdown of each of the "laps".That way I'll just create the workout on GC and download it to my device. Much simpler..

Why not use a garmin to sync with the wattbike,sign up with trainer road,use the TR app on the table/phone and there you go,entertainment. On free rides i run the app in the background, and play downloaded races which i edited with music. It usually keeps me busy for 2-3hours at night or on rainy days.

I'm that arsehole that sits for more than an hour - most of my sessions are around 90mins. I once had a 2 hour interval session. 

 

Entertainment isn't a problem, the session itself keeps me pretty busy. Although if on the rare occasion I decide to just ride, I'll listen to an audio book but then my watts will be very low, I can't do 2 things at once.

hi all,

I've been using the wattbike at the gym for quite some time, and was wondering what you guys and gals do to entertain yourself on longer rides?

i tend to use the full length of the handlebars in the "aero" position (such as when I ride my TT bike). so the handlebar is fully occupied.

I have both 7 and 10" tablets and was wondering if i could use a clamp mounting of some sorts to have my tablet there to run training programs, etc to make the ride more exciting.

I thought that a wattbike / Indore trainer was for quality training not faffing around on LSD.  so if you are doing 2 to 3 hrs get on the road, less than that you are doing it wrong if you can see anything.

Excuse my ignorance, how can the amount of WATTS be affected by weight? WATTS are a measure of power output so if you are on a bike in the open going downhill or up hill or on a WB there is no difference. If you are producing the power that is what it is. Indoor, outdoor, light , heavy, uphill, downhill whatevea! or whatever.

Weight to power ratio (or watts per KG) will determine how fast you go in the real world... So it's a very important stat. A pro will do around 4 watts per KG. Now those numbers are insane when you do the calculations. 

 

My longest Wattbike session has been 2.5 hours. My entire body cries from the pain and boredom. More so the boredom. Taking donations for a Kickr.

It still does not matter re indoor / outdoor. Watts are Watts period. It cannot be easier on a WB than on the road.

 

That was all I was saying. And W/kg are also constant nothing to do with the route weather etc.

 

It may seem as if it is harder outside but the effort is the same.
