Well, I'll be Monday in the drakensberg if that is closer to you. Flying Wednesday back from Durban to Capetown.

If that info will help...

If someone sets up a fund I'd also contribute to that.

Coetzee' date=' I know things are a bit hectic at the moment, but maybe we can ask our club "bankman" to set up a bank account. I'd love to run with a campaign to raise funds as soon as we have a bank account nr. I'll try and get as much interest as possible in order to raise some much needed funds.

We can have donation-list set up on the Hub as well. And I'll also do the bake/sell/slice thing as Slowpoke said.

Please let me know what you think?  Nothing is impossible !!

can't offer much in the way of help, sorry. but if anyone can get him a copy of the latest edition of "bike", there is an inspiring story about downhill racer tara llanes' recovery from a moerse accident!

I have various odds and sodds that can be donated, will post to Cape Town if something is set up.  Have Campag Centaur groupset (10sp) without chain or cassette.  Chorus pedals.  Various stems.  Let me know whats needed.

I spoke to Lourens (Willie Engelbrecht Mechanic) this afternoon, and he has not looked at the forum.... I updated him and he is keen to get all these donations down to Cape Town. He is prepared to bring one load down, so I suggested that he tries to find a 'moderator' to collect these items, and then bring a load to Cape Town.

He was really chuffed at the support given to Bernard, and will build up another bike for him.

If one of you can assist, I do not mind liasing with Lourens & Yourself.

Apologies for the 'absence'! I have been pretty snowed under with the arrangements for the Medihelp Crit.

The response from Hubbers to date has been overwhelming! Many thanks to each and everyone! I'm planning to visit Bernard later today and will give you an update on his condition. I will also hand him all the get well messages so that he can read and keep them.

I have already asked his mom to open an account in the name of "Bernard Kapp Hospital Fund" and hope to give you the bank details later today.

Bernard and his mother Hannelie reading your messages

Day 12 after the accident.

The wounds on Bernard?s face have healed nicely. It is, however, going to be a slow process as far as the rest is concerned. The healing of the vertebra in his neck is crucial before any of the other fractures in his face can be operated on. The damage to the vertebra is unfortunately quite serious.

Bernard has lost a lot of weight. He cannot eat and can only take his food in liquid form.

Last night his mother had her first night?s sleep at home after staying with Bernard for 11 days.

Bernard and his family have requested me to thank everybody for the get well wishes. It really means a lot to them knowing that Bernard is in your thoughts and prayers.

We do not, as yet, have a Bernard Kapp Hospital Fund bank account, but hope to finalise it tomorrow.

i'm glad that he's at least able to read our messages and knows that all of us are thinking of him. hopefully his vertebrae will heal better and faster than all expectations.

c'mon hubbers - are we gonna have hubbers' rides (both cape and gauteng) and include a choccie cake auction at each???
