The dreaded question.... What is my bike worth

Hi guys. I thought that I am done with road riding and sold my road bike in January and bought a MTB.

And although going off road is nice, and i did one MTB race, I do not think it is for me. And the rest of my group, only rides road.  I must say the MTB is very comfy, but it is the wrong tool for the wrong job.

And all the MTBikers in cape town is so friendly and they keep on inviting me to join the ride. Thumbs up to you guys.

So here goes: (I do not have pics on my phone..... The shame is unbearable)

29" highball C Santa Cruz carbon frame

Rockshock reba

SRAM xx and X0 1x10 mix

avid 1 brakes

quxxar wheels with racing ralphs tubless done.

Just a ball park figure would be nice to see what I can expect to buy if I sell.

What is the new price of that bike?

Maybe you can take the price you paid in january and deduct 5 to 10% depending on how much you rode?

That is the problem in that it doesnt work that way. If I was to see a bike that was almost new but was only slightly cheaper than the new one I wouldnt be interested at all.

Remember a warranty is extended to the first owner only, so buying a bike at 5-10% less than the new price without any warranty makes no sense at all.

Ahh I see my error! I assumed he bought the bike second hand in january so that would have taken care of the warranty discount.

Sadly, bikes depreciate faster than BMW's which is a clear indication of the markups involved I reckon.

if you bought new in January and bike is in good nick, expect around 60% I reckon. (just a guestimate and no offence intended)
