The dreaded question.... What is my bike worth

Looking HERE, does that more or less correspond to what you paid for it in Jan? If so I would cry in my hands if it only fetched R30k at a mere 6 months old. I'm sure you can squeeze R35k out of it.

But like the others said, unless you HAVE to sell it in order to buy another bike (like I currently do, sulk-sulk), I would just keep it for the rainy day when you feel like getting the adrenaline pumping.

It has 10 speed on it, so maybe was not a 2017 model.

no i think it is a older model, it does not have the internal cabling.

Bought if from a friend of a friend who has a LBS.

Unfortunately i have to sell this bike to be able to buy another one. I blew my whole budget to buy this... Like I said it is fun, I just don't like it as much.

You also have to compare it in the classifieds to other carbon HT you can get for 30-35K

Sorry to say you going to take a bath.

You would do far better if you can do a straight swop with someone for a road bike of same value.

The correct answer to mtb or roadie is BOTH.

Like Winnie the Pooh said when Rabbit offered him honey or condensed milk on his bread.

"Both", but then not to sound greedy added "but don't worry about the bread".

You made the right choice going back to the road!!

I thought you were a knob.

But with a chirp like that my perception has changed. Thank you for redeeming my belief in humankind

Keep that bike and turn it into a monstercross! All you need is to find some nice tyres, CX or large volume (>35c) road  tubeless tyres. Then cut the bars shorter (or exchange them).

Then you will have the coolest gravel grinder ever. Light, disk brakes, tubeless, suspension on the front to handle the corrugations  ... Good for gravel rides, commuting, touring. some light MTB and you can go ride with your roadie friends.

You could also look at drop bars, but that complicates shifters and brake leavers. Maybe you can find some exotic bars or bar ends that work with your current kit. But you would soon be spending money on diminishing returns.

Then save up for N+1. R10G to R15G should get a pretty decent 2nd hand road bike. Then a dual suspension MTB for N+2...

I thought that I am done with road riding and sold my road bike in January and bought a MTB...

the rest of my group, only rides road...

the MTBikers in cape town is so friendly and they keep on inviting me to join the ride...

Sounds like you might feel pressured to join your old group. If I read between the lines it tells me deep down, in your heart of hearts, you're a mountain biker.

If I was you I would keep the bike. Abandon the old roadie group.

And embrace my new life in the wild with friendly new friendly MTB friendly friends.

Oh no you don't! ;)

One thing that we have learnt is that MTBers are the new Roadies.
