Isn't out a WP Gravity series at Conties this weekend as well? Anyone know how many stages etc?

I'll answer my own question... Yes it is!

I have entered! Should be fun albeit a bit nerve wracking  - I don't ride these trails very often but i see they seem to be repeating some of the stages we raced on last time.

The trails are running SUPER nice on Conters at the moment. You'll have fun, dude. If it rains a bit, the new cut stage (brand new trail running on the other side of the fence next to "die kloof") will be very slippery. But if it's tacky - OMG it looks fun.

Old "Enduro line" (one that was cut into the grass on the climb side) has a few more berms in it now instead of just flat / off camber corners, so it should be a bit easier.

WP GE no 2 report back:

Contermans was indeed a great event. Its close to the southern burbs and manages to be gnarly and hard even though the mountain isn't that tall. They cut some fresh off camber trail to link some existing bits to create some new stages too. I arrived late and although the start was delayed I still missed the gun and after having to inflate a mysteriously deflated rear tyre, headed up to be almost stone last in line for stage 1. This is one for the flat corner specialists. Turn after turn with the odd yump or gap if you had the speed. Good fun. Result - 0 - no time

Stage 2 was most of super tubes I think. A complete contrast with 1. Massive long perfectly shaped berms along with some rocky gnar and a small "road gap" . More enjoyable than 1 but working up to the steepness that we were about to find in 3 and 4. Again zero results for me. On the way back up encountered a casualty - collar bone broken and having to walk out to access the ambulance with medics in tow.

Stage 3 headed over towards the main DH line and after some easy berms dropped steeply down on fresh cut off camber trail that already had ruts in  it. After a minor route miss I hit the tree charge section and a small drop and jumps. Fun end to a steep tricky stage. Again no results for me.

The trek back up to no 4 was a complete ascent of the hill to the mast and rather painful. This was the longest stage with the upper DH switchbacks and rocks with the very tricky traverse and descent back to the end of the DH line. There is endless scope for a wheel destroying rock hit or a broken body here. The rocks exit the earth like sharks teeth. Strangely I chose the upper smooth section at the start to miss a corner and crash rather than the punishing lower bits. I was up swiftly and aside from a  bit of crash induced trepidation on the worst of the rocks, managed to keep it together to the end.

All in a great venue and race but as you have seen above, i have absolutely no times to show for it. There were other timing issues caused by a system that didn't cater for riders electing to do stages out of their proper order, but my issue seems to relate to a dud transponder so I doubt their behind the scenes code analysis is going to help.

There has to be a better system.

I can honestly say that apart from a top to bottom descent of Canaries (which I haven't done in race conditions) this stage 4 must be my total and complete favorite enduro stage to date.

I. Freaking. LOVED it. 2.3km of rocky, rooty, loose, jumpy and sketchy AF. My arms were a bit kaput at the end!
