I see admin removed the thread due to the fact that the identity of the alleged perp was shown on the public forum. I get that.

However, should we maybe just keep a thread alive where the victim can come to request the info of the alleged perp in case he/she would like to press charges?

Or am I being a SJW?(a term I learned thanks to Rouxenator) Should we just accept that bullies will physically assault other members of society?

(Almost the end of Thursday, ie. basically Friday...)

I think the victim should be given the chance. if you're going to brag about assault, you have to be prepared to face up to it.

Can the Richard's Bay Hubbers get this out onto the groups, so the victim can be made aware that we have the details?

Although I agree in principle with the sentiments, let's not be too hasty. We've only got tenuous evidence of the perp's identity.

There is a hubber on the case, who could shed some more light on the subject over the weekend.

Ag guys, get off your high horses.

I'm quite certain he used a bit of "writers freedom" when he penned this down. Look at it as a bit of fiction.

Geesh, you can get your knickers in a knot over nothing. Sooooo damn sensitive.

I would suggest that the victim gets traced and that the identity of the person who assaulted them is made available so that they can press charges if they so wish.

Thats an assumption that you are making, me, I will take his word for it. Seeing that he was there, he probably knows more about than you do. Unless you were there too.

A public forum and the content held within it places the owner at liability.

If there is something that can be held as defamatory or in other ways create a liability for the owner then it makes sense to remove it.

Heck if it was my forum I would far rather put up with threads like this than open myself to litigation of sorts.

It may also be that it was request to be taken down as an investigation is underway and the contents could compromise that(this is just an assumption as I didnt see the deleted thread)

Busy with that so please refrain from making comments...

Good luck guys.

Here is Flaming Wheel's post:

Back Hand

Sometimes stuff just happens. Like a persistent mozzi in the dead of the night; it grates your carrot ‘til your fuse blows. You try ignoring the issue and even try talking yourself into a sense of calm but it’s useless. Something’s gonna give!

It’s not that you’re unreasonable; but when something just won’t go away, then something’s gotta happen. As much as you want to just get on with your stuff, the incessant irritation has a subtle effect on your patience that eventually results in an outburst.

So I was riding lekka, kinda minding my own business when I noticed a rider sitting on my tail. I thought OK, he’ll soon slip past. But no, he hung there for ages...sucking my wheel. There was plenty room to pass but he stuck on my tail. As I was about enter a section of single track, this oke tried to squeeze in front but he was too late. Anyway, we exited the track and s’trues nuts, he hung on my wheel some more.

I saw the forest track narrowing up front and as I was prepping to carve into the first bend, this oke tried to pass. I held the line and he slipped back. We exited the narrows and I’m not lying, the roadway opened up and I expected the pass, but no, this ou sat on my tail again. This scenario was beginning to disturb my frame of mind; something was brewing that I didn’t like. My mood was changing character; a dark cloud was taking over; this oke was starting to grill my cheese.

Next thing he sped past me...I was taken by surprise ‘cos I could see another single track just a few metres up the road. What happened next tipped me over the edge. He slowed right down as we entered the track; I almost crunched his back wheel but somehow managed to avoid a collision. My blood started boiling as he slow coached thru the turns and bends. We exited the track and I powered past him, casting a hard look his way...but he countered with a glance of insolence, or was it impudence? I had to drop this ou otherwise something was gonna happen!

He latched onto my wheel again. My mood was turning foul; I was no longer enjoying this race; a red mist was settling over me; why didn’t this ou just get outta my face? The roadway opened up: I signalled him to pass; he stayed right there on my wheel. I could feel the tension building as I sensed his smirky face in my space.

I was contemplating a strategy when I saw the entrance to another single track rushing towards us. And then it happened; just as I was turning to engage the track, he came alongside; without warning I swung a back hand; I felt a solid connection; he cried out and disappeared to the side; he grunted as he hit a tree and then another grunt as he hit the ground. I steadied my line and looked at my right hand - blood and snot. I opened the taps and smoked the rest of the course.

Later at the finish line I saw a rider pushing his bike; front wheel buckled. He looked unhappy; he was sporting a fat lip and coupla roasties. Eish, sometimes misfortune befalls even the best of us! Dunno what happened to the poor oke!

Ja, I'm the rider with the fat lip. Did not have the legs to pass him on the open stretches, therefore tried to stuff him around on the ST. Got a snotklap for me being so slow, suits me right.

A MTBer wrote a love letter saying how he got annoyed with another MTBer and proceeded to slap him.

His identity got exposed.
