Nepal bicycle trekking with friends through in December

Hi fellow cyclists

Voete_bike_fanie, wants to go to Nepal and ride along the country side with bicycles. I would like to go during the December holidays, its not to warm and not too cold that time of year. I really don't mind any age, but preferably between 26-36 years of age. Moenie skaam wees nie, ons gaan nie te hard trap nie  .

My thoughts are sleeping over in tea houses, (ek wil nie kamp nie want dis nog uitgawes), at night and during the day doing some sightseeing, getting mauled by little children for sweats, trying not to fall off the cliffs to sudden death and exciting stuff like that. However I don't want to go alone so if anyone wants to join post here.

Also any advice on travelling with bicycles or rather not from past experiences would be appreciated as this is my first time doing a bicycle expedition. I can't seem to find dual suser bikes in Kathmandu, will travelling on a hardtail be okay?

I would be glad to hear from the community.

Kind regards

Voete_bike_fanie

I did Basecamp last year December.

Weather around Kathmandu was great. Make sure you go to Thamel. Take cash. Lost of cash. Clothes are very cheap there. Kathmandu is crazy, but I will go again

Cant wait to go again.

As you go higher from Lukla, it does get cold at Night. (very very cold)

also talk to Alex Harris that organizes the Munga, he has done the MTB thing in Himalayas.

I've done a trip with this guy in north eastern India. You also cross into Nepal for a bit - foothills of the Himalayas. Got up to about 4000m altitude. Really great trip. If you want to go with someone who knows the area. We did the Singalila Ridge trip.

It will be stunning, you'll enjoy it. Different experience, and new culture.

I would double check the time of year, but when I was there at the end of September it was still fine. But mountains and winter doesn't mix, imo.

Kathmandu is a nice base to start from, stay in Thamil, lots of options available. Everything is cheap but it is a third world country.

I biked from the Chinese border at Nyalam to Kathmandu.

That's awesome!  I'd love to do something like this.  Did you take your own bike over?  How far did you go?  How long were you there for?  Did staying in tea houses work out for you?

More details!!

So I went alone. Had a great time but didn't make the pass. Next time

First time reading this post.

Not sure I would have made it along on the journey, but hey a girl can dream...

Congrats on having the courage to go do it on your own despite putting it out there for others to join you.
