Training programs

Does anyone have some links to good articles that can assist in settup cycling training programs.

For years I have been using training programms developed by Polar, which worked well but I did notice a trend that training programs nowadays use more zones.

I want to see if can't combine a training program with my commutes and I also need to get something setup for when we go into winter here.

PS.  I do not have a power meter so it will have to be HR based training programs.

Free programs or subscription only programs?

Free programs, just to check the trend lately.  I am not preparing for a specific event but do want to get some structure in my commutes/normal rides.

Wouldn't it be wise to just buy Joe Friel's Cyclist's Training Bible?

Assuming all the info is up to date, wouldn't it be nice to have the competency?

Also looking for more info on training plans, how to structure training blocks etc.

So does anyone have The Training Bible?

Wanted to suggest this also, perfect reading if you want to introduce structure, and there are loads of workouts at the back also.

If you talking about structure then I'm assuming you using a Power Meter.

My recommended Reading would be:

The Cyclist Training Bible by Joe Friel.

Companion to The Cyclist Training Bible by Joe Friel.

Power Meter Handbook by Joe Friel

Training and Racing with a Power Meter by Hunter Allen and Andrew Coggan

I've also collected allot of training information at: http://powerbasedtraining.wikidot.com

Sorry no plans yet.

Nice wiki blog :)

See link I gave earlier to free cycling plans by British cycling, if you want to start collecting some plans.

Here also some free ones by Stages power meters http://home.trainingpeaks.com/products/trainingplans/affiliates/stages-cycling/8-weeks-to-win

Thanks.

And thanks for the links, added to the training plan section.

Adding the Velopress stuff under Noteworthy resources, with some other book names I got in the mean time.

thanks,

it all started with being curious re training with Power, and reading allot, and then recording initially in a note pad everything I wanted to keep, and then sharing this via emails with friends, and then compiling it into this wiki once I realized maybe someone else might find the information if value.
