Hang on?

Are we saying that the cobbles are bad?

Are we saying that the mountains were too steep for top sprinters?

I am really confused as to what people want right now.

Porte crashed out. 2 races in a row. After being put back together with titanium he was probably jittery and nervous and caused his own demise. Quintana managed to smash that cobbled stage.

It was awesome.

The mountains, again. Were they really boring? Barguil threw the kitchen sink at it and Alaphillipe was immense. It was hardly boring.

Sagan, a top sprinter, made it over the mountains. I know he is a freak BUT questions need to be asked about who did what leading into a race that was always going to stretch them.

Blaming what was a phenominal course for boring racing is strange.... Also, when last did a rank outsider win a grand tour?!

Make no mistake, Thomas was a rank outsider!

Being the first time that I made an effort to watch Le Tour, I didn't find it boring at all.

It wasn’t boring. People simply didn’t get the winner they wanted. SKY won again and that apparently is not cool because.... Dave. But instead of just admitting that it’s easier to try and construct a more rational argument to try and justify the feeling.

It was one of the best tours in recent history, yes we lost Porte and Nibs, but there is always a big name that drops out at GT.

At least he didn't hold onto a car to get through the stage. . .

What questions need to be asked? Not sure I understand your wording?

No, he got his entire team to push him over the mountains.

I'm talking about the form of the other sprinters.

They had the route for months. Surely they could have made sure they had a team and the legs necessary to get them to Paris?

So GT winning a GT as a domestique is still not rad because of Dave?

I will never understand the mob.

Nibali was looking good. I was/am most upset he crashed out, but I still think World Champs has his name written all over it. Hopefully the shark can come back stronger.

Porte doesn't excite me. Bauke Mollema/Teejay van G type. That is my opinion, not fact.

Hopefully he can come back and win a GT but he has some serious demons to face... Very few people are as steely nerved as Carlos Sastre and crashing out starts becoming a habit.

2018 TDF will go down in my books as a fantastic edition. Seriously looking forward to the Vualta now!

gotta giggle at @geraintthomas on Tweetiebird who now has thousands of followers

And, no that handle does not belong to the maillot jaune  :P

Thanks for the clarification. I agree totally, it's not like they were surprised by the route on the day, they surely could have done something about it.

Like Sagan going to Vuelta to try out the mountains as prep for the World Champs course. If you really want something, you will do any kind of prep to get it

The most frustrating aspect of Le tour 2018 was the inability of movistar, BMC and Sunweb to take the tactical fight to SKY. Lotto surprised and were the only team to animate the GC battle. Individual brilliance of Dumoullin kept the interloper interest rolling but it became apparent early on that Sunweb just didn't have the collective fire power to match SKY.

To have a more exciting tour other teams need to raise their game

Depends on what you call exciting and why you watch a GT.

If they want a more explosive GC race and to see the pure climbers give it a go ditch the time trials.

Personally I enjoyed this edition.

There was 66.5km of time trialling in the 2018 edition

It doesn't come with less TT than that.

If they reduce the TTs and TummyD gets negatively affected, watch the tune change.

Cutting the Froome nose to spite the TummyD face will just expose some actual motivations later.
