Tubeless and thorns

The question is: If you get a big thorn stuck in your tyre but it seals, do you pull the thorn out and plug the hole or do you just leave it in there? Assuming that you only notice it after the ride because of the aforementioned sealing.

Curious to find out what the general opinion is out there.

Of course "thorn" in this context could be any foreign object that has punctured the tyre.

You ask specifically  "Assuming that you only notice it after the ride because of the aforementioned sealing"...I try and get rid of them at home as I clean my bike. If I then need to put in a tube at any time then there is less of an issue and less of a chance of puncturing the tube.

Pull it out and plug it! The "thorn" is solid and may work itself out over time when the tyre conforms to the terrain. Plug is pliable and usually forced into place so it won't come out  ;)

On trail, leave it in. I always check my tires after a ride and if I find thorns I will remove them and if needed plug, reason for not leaving it in is if I do need to fit a tube on trail i do not want to spend hours removing the hundreds of thorns accumulated.

Depends on how far i still have to ride if it's close to home i leave it in ...remember if it's a big thorn to have your brown worm plug ready to reseal the hole.

I once rode abot 10 ks with a porcupine quill that had gone right through both walls and sealed rode home with the quills clicking against the frame.

IMO leave it. We have those think white acasia thorns here. They make excellent plugs.

Stick it in the hole, snap it off and let Uncle Stan do his work from the inside
