Clip on bike rack for hatchback with spoiler

Hi everyone

I want to get a bike rack for my car, which is a Fiesta ST.

The problem is, I can't get a tow-bar.

I have been looking at clip-on racks, but most of them have straps in place that would pull down on the spoiler.

I found one on Amazon that wouldn't, but shipping it here would become very expensive.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Im having the same issue with my jazz vtec,

the only way to go is a roof rack but that's also expensive, especially if you have a gutter less roof aswell,

I have the same issue on a Honda hatch. My solution-

The Saris Bones 2 rack works well- it seems to put less pressure on the spoiler for some reason and just works very well.

This pic is not my car it is off Google Images but you can see that the design puts less horizontal pressure on the spoiler as the central tubular fulcrum point is further out away from the glass. Works on my hatch's spoiler, but it may depend on what car you have I guess.

As a bonus the Bones takes 2 MTB with relative ease, on friends' Thule racks we always battled to get them on without scratching something or tearing our hair out. And the Bones is stable at speed and over dirt roads.

with these racks it is important to make sure your bike is fully assured

And also INsured :)

The sad thing is that when you've gone through the effort of getting a hatch mounted rack that doesn't touch your spoiler, those little foam feet uses the fine dust and rumbles of the dirt roads you will no doubt encounter when hunting for trails with your MTB to buff two (or more, depending on the rack and car) dull spots onto your car's expensive paintwork.

I had also considered getting the cheaper alternative to towbar and roofrack bike racks when I got my new SUV, but after hearing about the trials and tribulations of the hatch mounted racks, I just sucked it up and got a roof rack from this here hub. A secondhand roof rack will maybe run you a grand or two more than the hatch rack, but the chances of permanent vehicle damage is so much smaller. You're more likely to forget about the bike and try to enter a basement parking garage...
