I have Leatt in first place at the moment! Should pull the trigger in a week or so!

I had a look at one at the shop a few weeks ago. It would be my choice too if i was shopping locally.

Just got my Leatt today and it's pretty awesome (with some great service from the actual Leatt guys thrown in for good measure). I'd tried the L on as I'm on the cusp of the M and the L and hands down the large was horribly uncomfortable weird pressure points, felt like there was no padding on the top of my skull etc. I was preparing to hate it and just sell it on as I wasn't holding out that the M that I actually ordered would be a good fit for my melon either. To be honest I was quite excited to order the Uvex.

The total opposite when it arrived. While it isn't as plush and  perfect shape for my head type as my IXS Trail RS was, it fits and grip solidly and feels darn good in both chin bar and free modes. Will be keen to see how cool it is once the wind in CT calms down a bit.

One thing I would have liked is that the rear retention dial was height adjustable as well but it's a little thing.

The retention ring on the DBX3.0 is height adjustable... at least 2 positions...

Really? Was trying to see how that would happen. Any more advice as i don't want to break it.

Just check behind where the chin strap attaches at the rear of the helmet. There is a little slider that adjusts when you pull down or push up on the retention ring strap

For anyone who is interested, the answer is no, Fox does not have an accident replacement programme.

Cycle lab said they'd cover 50/60% of replacement of my fox if I break it, not sure of that's fox or cycle lav though.

Mine was from Cycle Lab and they gave me no replacement cover so I'd get that in writing if I was you :)

Well I fit into the 56-61. And it's snug but not tight at all. Had Cameron from Trailtech cycles try one one and he says he had go for smaller one and he normally a small he says. Best is try one and see.

So I have a conclusion! Had a few rides and i'm very happy with my choice, it wasn't something I would have chosen on paper but like Harry's wand, the helmet chooses you...

The Leatt is amazing but there is no padding across the pip so I was worried about sweat dripping down. I did read that some people found this but most probably not true for everyone. I pulled the trigger and I bought the Tectal from PureMotion sports. It is just wonderful design and they are such a pleasure to deal with. It arrived chop chop and fitted like my head is a Swedish standard size. (That being said I did get the small which is 51-54cm, my head is 56 but they do run a bit large) There was just one issue, it doesn't work well with my glasses as the temples are pretty low. Good thing my friend was looking at the same helmet and bough it off me the next day!

There was a helmet Ridgeway cycles brought in for me to try on and it did fit pretty well but I was undecided at this time. Options almost out I asked for them to bring another in. The Rudy Project Protera! It's just so damn comfy! They also sell straps and pads and adjusters and visors and everything separately! If I could have bought extra pads for my old IXS, I would still have that helmet, and probably a 1X drivetrain...

So yeah. That was my journey finding a new helmet! Thank you for the advice everyone! I am in love with my choice
