So I order a Stages PM from our S.A trusty online shop CWC.

 

Great service, payment made, goods sent with tracking number...

 

I follow the tracking info and see this today :eek: :

 

DAWN WING WILL CONTACT YOU JNB 2017-11-15 17:22 REASON: 33 - VEHICLE HIJACKED

 

So I visit CWC and read this on their website:

 

RISK OF LOSS:

All items purchased from Chris Willemse Cycles are made pursuant to a shipping contract. This means that the risk of loss and title for such items pass to you upon our delivery to the courier. It is your responsibility to request insurance on your parcel. You will be quoted in addition to your total checkout amount.

First I hope the driver of the hijacked vehicle is OK!

Does this mean all I can do is hope they retrieve my parcel, or accept the R10 000 loss?

Who actually takes out insurance on their online purchases?

Just checked Sportsmans Warehouse delivery conditions as I often buy from them - nothing like that there.

that's brilliant - well done for stepping up!

 

Although it does bring into question what the hell the point of taking the insurance in the first place is anyway?

Emails received from both parties involved! Confirmation that the vehicle was hijacked.

Guess it "pays" to shop with the RIGHT guys.

Find this a shocker. Bought stuff from CRC. Half the items delivered and the other half outstanding. Check with them and they confirm it came from different warehouses and if not received in 4 weeks, to make contact again. Did so and they asked for 5 working days to track items. After 5 days called them back and they immediately promised to dispatch replacement items. Asked me to ignore the second delivery if it ever got dropped off in duplicate. Within the day I received the re-dispatch notice. Items received and sent mail to thank them for the superb service. No questions, no insurance issues, no hassles. Just ... service.
