Selling a MTB through Bike Market

Hi all,

Has anyone sold their bike to / through Bike Market?

I am trying to sell my MTB (Bikehub, Bikebay), with limited success - and am thinking it might just be easier to reduce the price and take it to them to do all the marketing and admin.

Thoughts / recommendations?

Many thanks!

Very easy to sell through them if you don't want the effort. But be warned, you are going to have to lower your price expectations alot, they have to resell it and make a profit for themselves too.

Like Grease_Monkey says, you will need to lower your asking price by quite a lot. They really give you next to nothing for your bike but they are quite good at marketing and selling it for you.

Plus they have to pay for their fancy new premises.

Yeah - true story.

I can lower my price - it's negotiable (always negotiable)  but "next to nothing" is depressing.

OK - well - I've contacted them,  let's see what they have to say.

Thanks for the advice!

Why not sell in the classifieds?

Why not sell in the classifieds?

It is in the classifieds. The thing is, the bike he is selling is not on everybody's list, plus it's a small. Not many people looking for a 140mm travel 650b bike

Great bike, but unfortunately a lot of people don't realize that's the type of bike they should actually be riding. I would guess Bike Market won't offer you much more than R20k, the wheel size and frame size are unfortunately a bit of a risk in our SA market, but yeah - that's a great bike, if you can find the right person, you should be able to get at least R28k odd for it.
