Thanks for the factual info and talking sense and of course the not pointing of fingers.

Patchanditches, you've gone quiet?

What more would you like me to say? I corrected some statements and V12 has brought a balanced and educated opinion. The conversation is back on track.

What’s your obsession with me? Want me to send some nudes?

I did read somewhere that he was dehydrated the day before - before the test was public - as to details of that - I have none... but it is a VERY fine line between dehydrated and normal for these guys - doesn't take much in reduced intake to go below the line - often it takes them 30 minutes to an hour to produce any urine at all for the test after getting off the bike - often.

That was their previous explanation. I think. Or it was the explanation before the explanation of where he took 3 or 4 puffs on the inhaler before the interview because he didn't want to show any signs of illness that he was suffering from while dropping everyone? Or the explanation where he was special and processed Salbutamol differently from most other humans?

Source included this time:

"Having discounted the dehydration hypothesis initially suggested as a possible cause for a spike in the salbutamol concentration and decided against a pharmacokinetic option that might have shown that external factors were the cause because of the difficulty of recreating the same conditions of that day, Froome’s team of experts are said to be focusing on this new hypothesis."

They way I understand excuses to work is that you get one shot at coming up with a reason. You can't go with "the dog ate my homework" and then when the dog gives you the hairy eyeball go with "I left it one the bus".

Exactly why I am so skeptical... these guys are generally dehydrated after a stage, half of them on Asthma meds, and yet only 3 guys over the threshold in the last decade. And Chris is double the threshold. This is going to have to be some seriously special lab test...

Just thinking of the myriad of ways to crook it a little

(just kidding Patch  )

How does it work? Asking for a friend...

I don't know - don't write exams anymore..... :) :) :) but I have neurosurgeon friends...

Would I let my son take it for a chess tournament - no

Would I let him take it for his matric prelims and finals - yes - if he wanted to and he was properly informed and screened first - would I insist he took it? No - it's his life... and I am sure in 10 years time there will be better stuff when the time comes around.... he will also be able to do well enough without it - the old school way - either that or I will kill him.... :)

Ritalin is ripe at varsity, if you have a prescription and can survive the holidays without taking it you can easily sell it come exam time for solid money, the scary thing is you watch guys start on ritalin, then battle to sleep so they end up taking sleeping pills, they then feel drowsy the next day so more ritalin and so the cycle develops, seen it in  a few guys...

What I don't get though:

To be only used when writing or when studying as well?

What happened to good, old hard work? Or did Viagra make that unnecessary?

Nobody on Chris's team is going to be discussing his legal strategy - not at all - so I would be interested to know where this journalist got his story from - aside from creative thinking that is - too much speculating in my opinion, not many facts - just hearsay.... he said...she said... it is said.... sounds too much like spindoctoring.... to me anyway.

Up until a journalist got hold of the story, no one knew there was an AAF. So I wouldn't discount the sources of the journalist.

Knew a guy or 2 back in the day who used Ephedrine. Similar thing happened. Some okes would go a week without sleep. Those bloodshot eyes always made it quite obvious when that happened.

They are often just ill-advised on how to take it - realistically it should be prescribed by someone qualified, and taken in the dosages and at the times prescribed - the fact that some students study (and take ritalin) at night just means their advisors and preparation is poor.

I am not sure why anyone would pay black market rates for ritalin - easy enough to get a script from some GP's who are less than diligent about fact checking symptom sets.

I am not discounting their sources - just the motivation of said sources to release such information... journalists motivations to create mountains out of molehills on occasion is understandable

This was the question that Lance and podcast buddy kept asking too.

Sheesh... didn't you read.... "he will also be able to do well enough without it - the old school way - either that or I will kill him.."
