Hi all you clever people, why would my HR do this on my Edge810? The Pemium belt is clean and I replaced the battery...

Is the belt faulty?

there was another thread recently where someone said to put the battery in upside down, and keep it in for 10 seconds. remove and replace the battery the right way round. This resets the unit.

if this fails, replace the belt, I use polar wearlink with my garmin HR monitor, they are cheaper and better than the garmin belts.

Thanks

Ill give it a try, was always working fine, then i thought its the battery, but still doing the same after replacing it...

had the same issue.

turned out to be the belt in my case, but try the reset business first

What no one tells you in the life manual is that you have to replace the belt almost every year.

Been there, washed and reset many a belt.

Polar is the cheapest.  Just replace the belt part.

Good luck.

Not for me. Been using the same belt since December 2015. Almost faultless. Looking for a HRM-TRI belt now.

So does a Polar wearlink belt work with the Garmin - i have an 820 ?

I also have issues with the Garmin belts and they are not cheap.

What's the recommendation?

Would a Wahoo belt work better....?

work 100

started getting faulse readings(too low hr) so i repladec the battery, now its jumps like this...

I had what looks like the same problem as you - also replaced battery then everything went truly haywire. Posted on another thread and got brilliant advice to reset the HR unit by putting the battery in upside down with the back cap on (to make contact so it “shorts”?!?). Leave it like that for 10 seconds before replacing right way round. Seems to have worked for me. I tried absolutely everything before this and was literally on the point of chucking it. Hope you come right!

As long as the HR transmitter contacts clip on correctly it should work. Seems to be a common hack to use the polar strap, which also seems more reliable.

so just to check - you are saying buy the Polar wearlink "belt" but clip on the Gramin sensor.

Don't purchase a whole belt from Polar?
