back to suunto replacements

got a spartan trainer from insurance. comes with 3 free replacement straps over 5 years.

ready for the first one, but the registration thing seems to have disappeared. let's see how suunto sa can handle this

I bought a replacement strap for my Suunto Ambit on Banggood, a brand called "Bakeey". R388 all in. It arrived swiftly too. Over a year later and still going strong.

Ultimo is actually "nogals opit" so I think you will have a pleasant experience with them. Quite curious as to how this plays out. Please keep us updated

initial response took 15 minutes, requested serials and photos and seems like that is it.

this "extended warranty" was a big selling point for me, so glad it's being honoured.

I had a similiar good experience with Osprey packs, and will definitely recommend them going forward.

Great to hear that they back their warranty! Also had an amazing experience with Osprey. Zip went after a few years. Sent them an email with pictures and within a week I had a pack with a brand new zip.

Also had a similar experience with Stanley and Leatherman

update as requested.

Logged the request and ultimo were on the ball.

They asked to see photos of the strap, and then immediately agreed to send a replacement. Unfortunately they did not have stock, so ordered from sweden, saying it would take 4-6 weeks.

7 weeks later the strap failed whilst running(at the strap/watch junction actually, not where i thought it would go), but being bright blue I found it 100m up the trail.

I mailed to ask on the status, stock was not there, yet. 2 days later it was and I just needed to pay R95 courier fee.

I received it the next business day.

overall, a great warranty experience and vindication for buying the watch for this warranty.

unexpected further update.

on replacing the strap it turns out part of the body had been broken.

what has come off is a plastic guide that holds a square nut in place.

any suggestions to glue this nut and the plastic part back in?

I was thinking 2 part epoxy

My Suunto Ambit watch strap has gone and bust again. These straps suck big time.

Any suggestions where to get a replacement?  Originals can cost 1K and they don't last.

Any idea of an alternative strap replacement method?

realise this was like a month back already, but for future reference I had the same happen with my previous Spartan, and Suunto replaced the entire casing no questions asked. it was already out of warranty but only for a few months, so they did a goodwill replacement and then extended the warranty for another 2 years on the casing

Ultimo really is awesome. Garmin can learn a thing or two from them.
