Riding home after work this afternoon I saw a cyclist being stabilized by Cape Medical Response. Direction Muizenberg.

Does anyone have more information? Hope he is well.

It's confronting, seeing a scene like that on my daily bike commute.

I hope he's okay.

Almost got taken out by a car in Muizenberg yesterday at about 40kmh.   Woman got caught at the lights and I was the irate cyclist - she was like "I didn't see you, I wasn't looking" and promptly sped off THROUGH the red light towards M5.

It's my usual route and I've been lucky, but that stretch of main road, especially Fish Koek, Kalk Bay, St James until Lakeside is sometimes hair raising.

From CMR:

"Hi, yes the cyclist was transported in a stable condition to hospital. Thank you for your concern . Regards Taryn"

Muizenberg - Vishoek main road is a death trap !!

Agreed....unless you are prepared to put voet in die hoek from The surf shop to St James and stay in front of the traffic, stick to Boyes drive

There are two or three bends there that are death unless you bunnyhop onto the pavement especially going towards Muzies from Sta James

As bad as Constantia Nek going up from Hout Bay past Groot Moddergat

Personally, I also think too many cyclist take to the road too late. Although there is never a 'best' time and we all have different circumstances, I found that when you leave early, you can be finish before the majority of the cars (and other cyclist) hit the roads. I always try to be wrapped up by 10am for the latest, then you still have the rest of the day to spend with the family.

more cars + more cyclist = increase probability
