Depends on the race really, some allow it and some dont.

I never had a problem picking up a racepack for someone else, normally one of the following is sufficient:

1) A screenshot of their sms confirmation (with racenumber)

2) or if you think that they really going to take it serious, an email from them with the "authorisation" for you to pick it up

They definitely check at the door but I don't remember them checking again at collection. Anyone have a definitive answer?

UPDATE FROM NEWSLETTER:

 

"If you cannot pick up your own race pack, someone else can pick it up on your behalf. All they will need to have is a letter signed by you, stating that you give them permission to pick up your race pack and goodie bag. The letter must include your name, race number and ID or passport number. If they do not have their own RaceTec chip (to gain once-off free entry), they will have to pay the entrance fee of R50."

Last year you had the chip checked at entry point to determine it was indeed working, and you had to give it to the friendly helper at the collection point, who scanned it again before handing over your race pack. I collected a few packs for friends, had their chips with me, and letters of authorization.

 

Took me only a few minutes to collect 5 x race packs.

 

Dunno if it will be the same this year, or changed.
