This is racing

Valverde has also attacked from the peloton and just about to catch chavez. Mohoric now leads solo..

Some killer tactics from movistar..Nairo softened Bernal up for Valverde..

Valverde takes the stage win and back in the GC lead.

Yip, Movistar is dominating this race. Valverde looked super strong.

He had good support though while Bernal,  who was all on his own, showed yet again today that at only 21 years of age he is arguably the best young GC rider in the world.

Meintjies was a bit disappointing.. maybe we are expecting too much from him.

Movistar toyed with the rest yesterday too. They baited Mitcheton Scott or whatever they go by now into doing most of the work all day.

Today was just beautiful racing.. tactically perfect....but they have some cards up their sleeves so they are able to do what they did..I especially liked the bit where Valverde jumped to join Chavez..worked a bit made the rest chase..make them tired by working a bit harder than what they wanted at that stage and then sat up ????????.

Stage 1: Thomas De Gendt majestic in the breakaway move as always and beats peloton home by more than 2 minutes

Stage 2: Uphill Sprint finish sees Impey going for the line but Bling takes the win and Valverde 2nd to leave SA champ in 3rd place. Good to see Impey racing again.

Stage 3 will be one for the climbers to target...

Nice spread of stages thus far.
