The price of petrol is regulated, so how the hell not buying from one supplier is going to start a price war is beyond me?? Do they even know what goes into making up the fuel price?

Also what about the hundreds of Caltex dealers that are trying to make a living out of selling fuel? If you stop buying the fuel, you will but thousands of sites out of business! Not exactly a move in the right direction.

Have a look below, and you can see how the price of fuel is made up. The main component is the price of oil, and then the other government levies etc. The regulated 39.5c per liter the oil companies make is hardly a factor, and if you stop buying your fuel from Caltex, then Sasol or Shell or Engen will just be making the money!

My Lord, wouldn't something like 'The Black Adder' sound better?

No, wait -- I think I have a better idea... What about: The Black... Adder!

I have yet to fill up here in Holland' date=' but it is rumoured that petrol costs R18 a litre and the market is unregulated![/quote']

Are you sure? I know the petrol price in Belgium is regulated - better double check on that one...

And the purchasing power of the Dutch is a 'little' higher than SA's. So can't compare - some use the McDonalds index to check purchasing power... how much is a burger there Wink

And most of all - their government succesfully developed alternative modes of transport.

Current petrol price and interest rates are having a huge negative effect on car sales soooo if you're in the market for a new car (like me) Toyota Kempton Park are having a deal where you can buy selected cars and get a free scooter or motor bike.

I thought we gonna keep the hub cycle related. Ist that why you have closed  Big H topic yesterday Admin. Surely whats good for one must be good for the other too. Maybe now i can start a poll and ask have the hub become a petrol forum. just a thought.

Buy an electric "help my trap" bicycle, they can do 30km/h if you dont pedal on a flat road.  You can get up to 70km before the battery is flat, this distance depends on a lot of things.

O ja, its cycle related Smile
