Shoddy service is NOT fraud.

True, but only if that was the agreed upon terms. Like if you take your bike to your aunt and ask her to wash and lube the bike, and she puts the chain in the dishwasher and thats the wash and lube.

In most other daily cases and in the case where you take your bike to a shop, there is a verbal agreement to have a specific set of tasks performed to an acceptable standard and if the scope of agreed upon work isn't carried out competently or not at all, its breaching the verbal contract and constitutes fraud (because you compensated money for a service that is not to acceptable standards as was agreed) or non-delivery.

come on, this is all outlined in the consumer protection act.

It may be breach of contract, but it is not fraud.

BIG thumbs UP for King Cycles in Worcester !!!

These guys ROCK !

Needed emergency repairs to by bike on Saturday morning ... nicked the hydraulic hose just before the start of the Fine Breede.

Of three bike shops I visited in Worcester they were the only ones to have the hydraulic hoses, end-fittings, etc in stock, and a competent technician to do the work.

When I collected the bike they had cleaned it, lubed the chain, basically gave it a once over ....

All for R260.

VERY impressed !!

I went back, and started the Fine Breede event 2 and half hours late, still completed my ride

I just paid €138 for a handlebar to be installed with new cables.

I would have done it myself but I am not comfortable running cables through the frame. Next time I will rather spend the money on tools and learn.

The service was really top drawer so this isn't a rant but rather an observation.

I am happy with the quality and friendliness of the staff at my new LBS.

I do miss the guys at J.O.C Cycles in Cape Town, They were my LBS for years and I was always greeted with a smile, was offered discounts an numerous occasions and their attention to detail is outstanding!

Even when I rolled into the shop for the first time on my Schwinn Moab, they had it rolling out in better shape than the day I bought it.
