RS Pike RCT or MRP Ribbon

Another vote for MRP Ribbon here. Absolutely loved my previous Stage, and now love the Ribbon even more. That said, it's at 150mm travel on an Enduro bike. Stiff as a teenager looking at an FHM, and small bump sensitivity is amazing too. Ramp control is cool, but to be honest something I don't use too often on the fly.

Hairy J, where did you get the reference about the 35mm Reba? Interesting but cannot find it...

I haven't looked at DVO yet. The Sapphire seems to be a 32mm fork. Apparently 32mm forks don't agree with my riding style, which may turn out like an expensive lesson for me to learn... ;)

Sorry ... got things mixed up ... the Revelation will be coming in 35mm

Isn't there going to be overlap between the Yari and the Revelation? Kinda seems silly to have two of the same level of fork in the same size?

Am I missing something?

Yes.

Yari = Lyrik with Motion Control

Revelation = Pike with Motion Control

Different wall thicknesses (therefore stiffness & weight) between the 2 levels when it comes to the stanchions.

I think few people will understand what that means  :D

basically Rev and Pike have 1.5mm thick stanchions

And Lyrik and Yari have 2mm thick stanchions

....if I'm not mistaken ?

I have had a few mrp forks . The stage, the loop tr & currently the ribbons. My last bike was a hightower fitted with a pike(was how I bought it) and I was suitably impressed with the pike.

I just find the mrp ribbon plusher . Like ‘Greasemonkey’ said, I also don’t use the ramp control that often, but I do use it .

The difference in the 2 is the pike feels like a firmer fork that rides higher in its travel . Not firmer as in hard just firmer as in feedback.

Where as the mrp has a slightly more cushy feel to it. Small bump is brilliant .

I wouldn’t discard either and would happily ride both.

I know ‘Philip v’ isn’t a mrp/Trailtech fan as he has voiced before . But based on the service from trailtech I have received, I highly rate there attitude to service . They bend over backwards to sort out any issues .

Is your front hub boost ? If not , what about a mrp loop tr. It’s really an excellent fork and probably more suited to your rocky .

Mrp forks also only cost a R300 odd to change the travel which is a big bonus. Especially if you want to keep it for your next ride that requires different travel.

Best of luck in your choice .

That clears it up for me. Thanks!

Thanks for the informative feedback.

I checked out the Loop Tr. On MRPs website it is stated with the same weights as the Ribbon. So I thought I'd better go with the newer Ribbon...

That's a bit of an assumption on your part.

I was very close to pulling the trigger on a Stage, and only picked the Pike because I got a great deal on it.

I'm mates with the local rep for Trailtech, and I'm contemplating replacing my Dartmoor frame with another one (depends on what Trailtech brings in.)

I do however like to know that the fork I spend 15k on has parts support, and I won't have to wait 6weeks if the worst case scenario happens. That's why I don't drive a triton but rather one of the locally built Bakkies. Because stuff breaks, and I like knowing that the supplier has my back. (Off topic, I know.)
