So, I am starting to consider adding a road bike to my stable....

But no experience in this field what so ever!!

I'm 1.83m tall, what size bike will I be looking for?

56?  58?

No idea!

I'm 1.83 and ride a Trek 60 but I have also had a Cannondale 58 apparently they are the same size as they are measured to diffrent parts on the down tube.

OK PappaB so you are as confused if not more now that you have the answers. All depends on leg length etc so suggest you try to get fitted before you spend ypour cash

Save yourself some frustration and go and get properly measured at a reputable bike fitter/shop.

You'll come away with the exact options of frame sizes to look for and you wont have to guess what the optimum length cranks and stem, bar width/drop, saddle height/offset are suited to your unique body dimensions.

It will be money well spent Thumbs%20Up

ADMIN, HELP HELP.

Can you please make road bike sizing a sticky topic.  I must have explained the lemond method and the carmicheal method, and the LA flexibility test, and the concept of bike geometry at least five times in the last two years.

Thank you

Planning on doing that ShortLegs, thanx!

I like to do a lot of homework before I buy, so this is only the start of the process.  Will probably only buy early 2009....

Must say in terms of styling I am strongly leaning towards BMC, Specialized, and Pinarello.....

Will see how my financial position looks when it is time to buy.

that's a good idea PB, it took me 9 years, 3 different frames and sizes and a m*erse lot back pain to find the right size and geometry  (oh and I forgot about the amount of money that all cost)Cry
