Mostly old farts struggle to piss....

Because they too busy crying into their beer... and looking for comforting on such threads!!

And before someone starts jumping up and down.... am 52 and just done my best Ironman to date (11:18hrs)!!

We are clever enough to evaluate if the fights worth getting in to :-).

Age does have some advantages, like lower testosterone levels.

Plus old farts are all too too tired and seen it all before so we know its just handbags at dawn and don't really have the ability to get in to a real pissing contest (we can hardly hit the urinal any more as you point out) plus  with too many grumpy old farts here (coz we over 50 and sore and upset that our PB's are behind us) so its like mutual respect.

Advantage?

Depends where you fit in.

Sounds like an excuse to me..... :) :)

Could be, but as I qualified for the Ironman world champs in PE in Sept, will not be using it as much of an excuse ;)

Congrats on your Ironman. Massive Respect!!

My understanding is that old farts can't piss cos they have enlarged prostates. I do think its possible to simultaneously urinate, cry into ones beer, and draw comfort from this thread  even at an advanced age. As part of my commitment to the search for truth, I will give it a shot tonight, and let you know how things go tomorrow.

So, as often happens, ......................... My suggestion was aimed at these folk.

In general these folk don't want to be reminded that they can't anymore as most believe that they still can and do.

That's just how we are.

But you may have noticed that your post has indeed created just that space for us old farts.

It won't disappear.

Welcome to your thread !!

So, as often happens, some of the more elitist riders make a harsh point/statement that completely ignores the majority. In this case, yes there are older riders who thrash youger ones. I do too, but the majority of older riders are not able to beat the younger riders, are not competing for high positions and they often have questions, simple questions that the elitists scorn. My suggestion was aimed at these folk. By providing a virtual club (not necessarily on Bikehub), these riders can ask questions or offer thoughts which they might otherwise feel would be laughed at on a general forum.

My personal experience on the hub is that the vast majority of folk here on the hub are only too happy to assist the less informed whether the questions are dumb or otherwise. Granted you will get a few wise cracks thrown in but just filter them out and ignore.

At night when I lie down on my pillow and close my eyes,as I drift away I'm always a bit better on the bike than I really am.

At sixty I'm ok with that.
