Hi Hubbers.

I need to bleed my SLX m7000 brakes.

Can I use pharmaceutical grade mineral oil?

or do i have to buy Shimano Fluid, i cant seem find much difference between the stuff asides from colors

must i buy something from a car dealer,

I saw they sell mineral oil used in power steering or something

The brakes are brand new and i dont want to put some cheap junk in by accident.

will it be fine to run the brakes for 1 week on the pharma stuff?  Not going to be able to get anything next week. and there's no time to take it to  a bike shop.

From the older thread it seems like it might be too thick and not work as expected. But it won't ruin it like putting in dot 4 would.

I have a set of brakes on a seldom-ridden bike, and they're filled with sunflower oil - no jokes - it was an emergency and I planned on replacing the oil with normal Shimano stuff as soon as I could get it, but they've not stopped working. It's been a year now.....

Gives new definition to cooking your brakes :)

Just get the shimano mineral oil. The small bottle is cheap enough and every bike shop will have. Alternatively ask them to put some in a tub and syringe it in yourself.

Why take a risk with a product you may struggle to flush out later.
