Whats wrong with BikeMob?

Not much at all but I wondering who else might be renting them and their costs & the time you get them. I'd prefer to have the unit for 48hrs but at R900 for 2 units (or R450 for one unit) for 24hrs @ BikeMob it's pretty expensive. Much like getting new tires, bikes, shoes, pedals, forks, bars, stems etc it's worth shopping about.

You can buy them for R4500 odd so it might be better to do that and then split it between other riders or rent it out to cover the costs.

Raydek did that, but seeing as it's a specialised item and pretty much single use, and you have to protect yourself against those retards who rent and fly, it was a bit of a let down in terms of efficacy.

End result was that it spat out a 90% hit rate Ito settings with a required change to HS compression. Which the Pike RC can't do. Essentially if you are pretty good with your hit n hope settings, it's not a game changer. Helps if you have all the settings to play with, like a Cane Creek or similar, or can play with shim stack.

Also shock settings. Need the ability to change all metrics, not just pressure, a compression switch and low speed rebound.

All reasons that contributed to the sale of the item.

Thank you again. Gives a lot to think about. I am generally ok with setting up forks because they are easy. Usually rear suspension is pretty easy as well. I borrowed a bike from a friend who is in USA until I manage to purchase a new frame. The bike has Fox Float x2 and there is a lot more to adjust. I am struggling to get the balance correct. It has a RS Pike fork which was very simple to get correct. The x2 is being more difficult & is becoming a niggle when I would like to be riding.

I find the I'm using 95% of travel in riding. Not bottoming out and it feels good on the features (rocks, drop-offs, rollers, double ups). It feels like it rides very high and forward in the travel when in 'firm' mode for climbing and peddling. Main irritation is that i can not get a handle on the rebound compression mix. It is not kicking like a normal shock would if it's not set right coming off jumps but rather feels a bit like it is extended a bit much when you are popping off trail features and starts a bit too far out. This in turn makes you feel unbalanced and like you are too far forward at unexpected times on a trail when you do not want to feel like that. Not 100% enough to make it OTB feeling but more heading that way and more than the centred feeling I like. The result is that I am then positioning further back but do keep getting caught out a little bit.

2 of the frames on my list to replace the one stolen have Fox x2, one has a Superdeluxe, one a Cane Creek DB air as well as a spare DBIL Coil. Which means I'll be facing the same range of adjustments on 3 out 4 with HSC LSC LSR HSR to set up.
