What is the Hub opinion on a Pinarello Dogma F8 with Sram Red (looks like 10speed) and normal cheapish wheels.

Is R35 000 a good price or is too cheap? The frames alone were something like R80k new. Have they depreciated that much since the F10 has been launched.

Fake or original?

Very possibly a Chinarello. There were a whole bunch of fakes bought into the country a few years back sold as originals from legit dealers. I would suggest checking the serial number and confirming with the SA importer if it is real. If it does turn out to be real it's a very good price.

What he said. This will be your first priority to get the OK from I think ASG whom is the importers? If it's a fake, name and shame

Which legit dealers?  Are they still around?

If it's the bike I think it is that has been advertised, it has had the top tube resprayed which indicates a repair as the F8 is known for cracking in that tube.  Not a big issue if it has been repaired properly but it will always have "resale value" issues as can be witnessed with the price it is being advertised at.

Without giving the seller away, let me know the size of the bike and I will tell if it is the same one.

He mentioned a paint chip was sprayed, not a crack repair. It is a farm gate, size 59, so I think it's the same bike.

I wasn't looking to ruin the guy's sale or question his integrity, I just wondered if these bikes depreciate so much.

I suppose it is like Italian cars like Fiat and Alfa. Their values drop like a prostitutes pants the moment you drive out of the showroom.

Looks like the same bike then and it is currently being advertsied on Bike Hib for R30 500! Ad was posted on 24 May.  Black with red detailing?

Ad says it is 11 speed.  If you can live with the repair and you can confirm it is a genuine Pinarello, it is a good deal.

Maybe I'm an idiot but I'd rather get a brand new 2018 Merida Reacto with Ultegra for under 30k from bike addict.

Or a 2018 giant TCR disc for 28k or a Giant 2018 Propel for 34 with Ultegra.

Yes it doesn't say Pinarello on the downtube but it's brand new. With a warranty.

Not actually sure to be honest... just remember seeing the story on Carte Blanche. Pretty sure it was a skelm that owned a bike store. Anyway, I'm sure if you google it'll come up quite quickly.

If this is the case it explains the low price - in which case it is a very good deal for you. As a second owner you don't have warranty anyway, so a respray does not affect you in any way.

If I was you I'd just confirm it's a legit frame, and if it is - go for it - really good deal then.
