Then, late afternoon a 10 strong convoy appeared out of the mountains and made right for our spot - the only level place in that rugged kloof. My heart sank because I knew we were in for a rowdy night of drinking and loud talk, maybe even Bles Bridges music...........they turned out to be a group of Defenders. They came over to apologize for messing up our solitude and asked if they could share our camp for the night, the next place being at least a few hours drive away and with the sun disappearing fast! They pitched camp in a jiffy, made small fires and were asleep shortly after 8pm. At first light they stirred and an hour later were packed and politely said good bye, leaving us a bag of fire wood and a freshly baked bread. They didn't even leave oil stains behind!
