How to calculate coil required for rear shock?

So I'm replacing my debonair on my reign to CC INLINE COIL! What I want to know from rides with experience with this is are the spring calculators correct? I used tftuned, the canecreek calculator as well as the very complex fox calculator and all roughly come out with the same figures however a lot of online forums would suggest otherwise as some riders say that the spring calculated is to soft and should rather go 50lbs heavier... some input would be great... Thanks!

3 options - buy the recommended one and risk having to buy a second, stiffer one, or buy the stiffer one and risk it being too stiff. Or buy both and have a better chance of getting it right first time.

The only way to confirm is to fit it and ride it.

This is why the world moved to air all those years ago...

I think it all depends on how you like your shock to feel.

If with the Debonair you found you ran it with more pressure than the recommended for your weight, so a harder ride. Then maybe think about getting a slightly stiffer spring.

If you rode the Debonair with less pressure, softer.. Get a softer spring.

Or, if you rode it as per the recommended pressure, then go with the CC calculator. I rode my debonair practically as per recommended pressure and went with the CC recommended spring and have been more than happy.

Dunno if that helps.

SO sitting with this problem atm... CC site says 400 for me and my bike, but I am finding I want to at the very least TRY a 50 lb stiffer spring on my CC Coil IL. It's on the way with the local agent (I freaking hope this time).

Depends on your riding preference, how your bike performs, etc...Do what Droo said, somma order both. It's FAR better than ordering only one and continually wondering whether you should have ordered two given how relatively cheap (the non Vault ones) they are overseas.

Didn't use them? You lost me

It sounds like Yo-yo said he bought the recommended coil and one coil stiffer and one coil softer, but only used the recommended coil to his preference and never needed the "contingency plan coils".
