The Liverpool United games were the games of legend, eagerly awaited and the build up used to be electric…

eish.

How the mighty have fallen... 😄
The sad thing for me though, is how they are scapegoating...!!

Gary Neville and his cheerleaders go on about the Glazers when this bunch lose, but praise the multimillion pound signings, as ridiculous as they are. Anyway, long may this rot continue.

Blimey. Looks more n more like may 12th going to be the decider. Funny results last month or 2.

Those Gooners just won’t go away.... It at least makes for some excitement in the run up to the end of season - apart from those other 2 up front that is.

So, looks like I’m gonna be a ManU supporter this weekend after all... 🤣🤣

Manchester United have just confirmed the worst kept secret....

Erik Ten Hag will take over as manager from this interim guy, on a 3 year contract with another year option.

So now that they have that monkey off their backs, let’s see them do the business on the pitch on Saturday 🤞🏽

Swings and roundabouts. Of the current teams in the top flight, that have been successful, they have all had long periods of "how the mighty have fallen".

  • LFC had their dry time during United's purple patch
  • United are 10 years and counting, even though 25 years was their previous wait, they weren't as dominant back then for as long as they were in the PL era.
  • Arsenal are 18 years and counting, but 3 below their previous "worst spell".
  • Citeh are currently in their purple patch
  • Chelski are 6 years and counting
  • The others are still dusting their trophy cabinets

The table below shows:

  • A = No. Titles
  • B = Longest "dry spell" (between last title and subsequent title)
  • C = Current "dry spell" since last title.
  • D = Highest number of "years of dominance"

* the value will change down, by 1, based on which team wins this season.

Brilliant perspective 👌🏽
Except, Spurs went and built their own trophy at a cost of over £1Bn 🤣🤣

I see our mate Roddie has understandably and surreptitiously chosen not to correct that “years since last title” number.  61 years since Spurs old-timer legend Gary Mabbutt was born in the same year (’61) that they last won the title.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think I’m also mature enough to comment on the experiences of my own generation.

Believe me, even Gary Mabutt is older than I am... so I grew up with utmost admiration for him as a player, leader and gentleman.

On that note, I of course am still hopeful that an EPL title (even if it’s just one) is forthcoming in my lifetime... 🤷🏽‍♂️

Spurs must be the most successful team in the league, with the least to show for their success. Would be interesting to see the accumulated position, season by season, over the years.

1 point for top position in the Premier League, or old 1st Division, then add one point per position per season, i.e. the winner of the current Championship would get 21 points.
